How long does ceramic coating last?
Longevity depends on the coating package you choose and how the vehicle is maintained. Professional ceramic coatings typically last anywhere from 1 to 10+ years — at our Vancouver shop, we offer 2-year, 5-year, and 10-year packages to match your budget and how long you plan to keep the vehicle. We’ll recommend the right option based on how you drive.
Does ceramic coating protect against scratches and rock chips?
Ceramic coating provides excellent chemical resistance and surface protection, but it is not impact-resistant. It will not stop rock chips or deep scratches. For physical impact protection, Paint Protection Film (PPF) is the better solution. Many Vancouver customers choose to combine PPF on high-impact areas with ceramic coating for overall coverage.
Can ceramic coating be applied over PPF?
Yes — ceramic coating can absolutely be applied over paint protection film, and it’s one of the most popular combinations we do at our Vancouver shop. PPF protects against physical damage like rock chips and scratches, while ceramic coating adds a hydrophobic layer on top that repels water, reduces dirt buildup, and enhances gloss. Together, they offer the most complete paint protection available for Vancouver drivers.
How long before I can wash my car after ceramic coating?
We recommend waiting at least 72 hours before washing your car after a ceramic coating installation. During that curing window, avoid water exposure, rain, bird droppings, and tree sap — if possible, keep the vehicle garaged or covered. After the initial cure, hand washing is always preferred over automatic car washes to protect the coating long-term.
How do I maintain my car after ceramic coating?
Maintenance is simple. Regular hand washing with a pH-neutral soap will keep the coating performing at its best — ceramic coating makes contaminants much easier to remove and reduces how often you need to wash.
